Somehow the adjective "menopausal" conjures up pictures of grumpy, moody old crones, figures of fun, and souls past their sell by date! Huh! little do they all know - we just need to get past the physical changes in our bodies and embrace the incredible creatures we are as women.
My foray into this world of change began some ten years ago with the onset of midnight panic attacks which left me feeling exhausted and depressed. When the panic attacks started during the day I realised I had to do something fast - my life was governed by a feeling of insecurity and permanent dis-ease. After consulting my Doctor - for whom I have the greatest respect - I went onto a course of anti-depressants. These not only did not stop the panic attacks but caused a 10kg weight gain in five months (great stuff for an already depressed woman!). And then, by pure chance and good fortune, I was taken to a talk on Natural Progesterone and my life changed forever.
I have spent the last ten years talking to groups of women, women in supermarket queues, women in shopping centres, women in parking lots about the fact that it is not our "lot" to feel less than 100% at all times. Life should be fun, and full, and feisty. We have so much to offer as older women - so lets get out of the drugged stupor so many of us stagger along in - and be what we were created to be: WONDERFUL!
